Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn tuition credit. (Taken from Great Lake Scrip Center)
How does the scrip program work?
The scrip program is a fundraising effort which allows us to buy gift certificates "scrips" from local retailers, at a reduced cost. The savings are then used to credit individual family tuition accounts.
For example: If you spend $500 at the grocery store each month, by purchasing Giant Eagle gift cards to use when you shop, in one year you will earn $240 in tuition credit. Now imagine doing this for all of your grocery bills, gas bills, retail shopping, gift card purchases, holiday shopping, and even home improvement costs!

Is there a form to fill out if I want to buy gift cards?
Yes, if you want to purchase gift cards from stores we carry in-stock, please print and complete the In-stock Store and special order form
If you would like to place an order that includes stores we do not keep in-stock, please review the complete list on www.glscrip.com and add that vendor and denomination in the section provided on the In-stock Store and special order form
For all orders, you must include cash or a check made payable to “St. Bernard Shop for Education.”
Gift cards will be sold on Wednesdays from 2:30-2:50 pm in the Band Room accessed through the back parking lot where the students are picked up.
Gift cards will also be sold Sundays after the 9:30 am and 11 am masses in the Rectory Office.
Can I send my order to school with my student?
You can send your completed order form with a check made payable to “St. Bernard Shop for Education” to the school office. Place both your order form and check in an envelope or staple the check to the form. If you send payment in cash with your order form, we are not responsible for any cash that is sent to school with children.
All forms received in the school office by 2:30 pm Tuesday will be filled and delivered on Wednesday via the blue envelope or after-school pick up based on which delivery method you indicate on your form. Some cards (those we do not carry in stock) will not be available until the following Wednesday. Please note, if you are requesting your order be sent home in the blue folder, you must indicate as such and sign your name on the form or the order will not be sent with a student.
If I bring my order to the school, can I get my gift cards immediately?
If you bring your order to the band room with an entrance in the back parking on Wednesday between 2:30 and 2:50 pm, you will receive all in-stock gift cards immediately.
If you submit your order at any other time, you will not receive your gift cards immediately. The Scrip Program materials are kept in the safe and no one has the ability to fill your order. Thank you for understanding and respecting Mrs. Dillon and the Rectory staff’s busy schedule.
When are orders for in-stock gift cards due?
For delivery on Wednesdays via the blue envelopes or after-school pick up, orders forms with payment included must be at the school office no later then 2:30 pm Tuesday. All orders that arrive on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be available the following Wednesday.
If I place an order for gift cards not kept in-stock, how long will they take to come in?
At this time, please allow about 2 weeks for an order to arrive.
You can print the order forms from www.stbschool.com, but at this time you can not submit orders electronically.
Can someone from out-of-town submit orders?
Direct them to http://www.stbschool.com/ where they can print the form needed. Completed forms and checks made payable to “St. Bernard Shop for Education” can be mailed to the school office at the following address:

Payments
Payment can be made in cash or checks made payable to St. Bernard Shop for Education.” We cannot be responsible for any cash that is sent to school with students. We cannot accept credit card payments at this time.
Can I pay for my order with a credit card?
St. Bernard Church and School are not set up to accept credit card payments. The costs of processing credit card payments would be prohibitive to the program.
Checks should be made payable to St. Bernard Shop for Education.
For stores that are not in-stock, can I pay when I pick up my gift cards?
All payments must be made at the time of ordering for all gift cards.
Tuition Credit
When will I receive my tuition credit?
Tuition credits will be applied and notices sent out in November, April, and with tuition bills before the new school year.
Can I earn credit if I paid my tuition in full already?
Yes, your credit will accumulate all year and will be applied against next year’s tuition.
Can my family receive the credit if our family/friends buy gift cards?
Absolutely! There is a line on all order forms asking to whom you would like credit given. Remind those ordering to include your family’s name when filling out order forms. If you know there are other school families with the same last name as you, please be sure those ordering include either your names or your children’s names.
Will you ship orders to out-of-town friends/family?
Not at this time. You will need to ship their gift cards to them. We strongly encourage you to insure the packages as gift cards are the same as cash.

Why does St. Bernard’s keep 1% of the discount from orders?
The Scrip program keeps 1% of the discount for administrative purposes, such as vendor shipping fees, paper, etc.
Gift card/Retailer
Can we purchase gift cards for Target?
Target does not currently participate in scrip/gift card discount programs. But, when accessed through the Amazon.com Web site, you can use Amazon.com gift certificates to make Target.com purchases. Amazon.com gift certificates can be used at most of their affiliate retailers; please check Amazon.com for details.
Can I use the Giant Eagle gift cards at Get Go gas stations?
Yes. Both Giant Eagle and Get Go gift cards can be used interchangeably at all locations.
Can I buy gift cards to pay off my credit card bill?
At this time, we are only aware of Kohl’s and JC Penney allowing customers to pay their credit card bill with gift cards.
Can I use more then one (1) gift card per transaction when I am shopping?
You need to check the individual retailers’ gift card policy. Go to www.glscrip.com and click on the “Order Scrip” tab. Use the search box to search for individual retailer information.
Can I redeem my gift card at the retailer’s online shopping site or through their catalog?

Can I check the balance on my gift cards?
Many retailers show your remaining balance on your shopping receipt. Some stores also allow you to check your remaining balance either by phone or on their Web site.
